No network for guest OS on Vista host

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver
Sent: 05/19/2008
From: Randy Barger - Emineo Group
Message:

I've recently moved my VHD files to a new host. The old host was running
Windows XP Pro SP2 with Virtual Server 2005 Enterprise R2. The new host is
running Windows Vista Business (32bit) SP1 with Virtual Server 2005
Enterprise R2 SP1.

I originally kept the old VMC (configuration) file. Since I was having this
issue, I deleted it and created a new one.

The issue is that I cannot get the guest OS (Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
SP2) to see the network. The NIC is recognized and installs properly, but it
will not get an address on the network, and always displays 0 bytes received.
I cannot set a static IP address either.

Here are some other details:

Host OS:
Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller
Client for Microsoft Networks
Virtual Machine Network Services
Microsoft Network Monitor 3 Driver
QoS Packet Scheduler
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Guest OS:
Intel 21140-Based PCI Fast Ethernet
Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
Network Monitor Driver
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Virtual Machine Configuration:
Memory: 768MB
VM Additions: 13.813
Network adapter: Connected to “External Network (Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx
Gigabit Controller)”

I've also tried removing the NIC/adapter from the guest OS and letting the
OS find it again. Same results.

Any suggestions?
