fast as the underlying hardware allows. If you have a physical Gb NIC
and a fast CPU you can reach speeds of around 500Mbps. Same goes with
a physical 10Mb NIC, even though the VM shows 100Mbps, you're really

If you want a faster NIC display, you'll need to use Hyper-V. The
emulated NIC in Virtual Server is a 10/100 NIC, and it will always
display 100Mb, regardless of the actual connection.

state that you are not getting the performance you need?....

The transfers in the emulated NIC:s are as fast as possible through
the physical NIC given the emulation overhead. But it is still an
emulated NIC and it will *report* its "speed" properties as 100 Mb/s.
But in actual fact it runs much faster.
