OK, I realize this is a VM session were discussion, but hey why does it
default to a S3 video card that hasnt been made in 10 years that doesnt
support any of the new protocols. Is there any way to get it to see / use
the hardwares video drivers instead? Id like to leverage 1280 x 1024
resolution and something that understands DirectX 9 if possible. -----HELP!

As Robert says, there's actually a good reason to stay with a fairly old
card. But beyond that, one way around the limitations of resolution are to
use Remote Desktop to connect to your VM. The options for RDP are much
greater, and for those OS's that can support RDP6, you even get 32-bit
colour. I routinely connect to my VMs with a 1360x960 desktop. And I could
do more, but that's the best fit on my setup here to still let me see other
windows behind it.

One of the uses of virtualization product is legacy OS support, so it
has to be a card that an OS made 10 or 15 years ago could use.

The more advanced video card emulated, the more CPU power is required,
which reduces overall performance.

Virtual Server supports up to 1600x1200 as well as DirectX, there is
no Direct3D.

What video protocols are you referring to?
