I've installed Virtual PC on my Vista Ultimate machine and then installed
Windows Server 2003 into the virtual machine. If I already have Visual Studio
2005 and SQL 2005 on my host...do I have to reinstall those apps into the
virtual machine? I'm trying to setup an environment to run sharepoint and
develop within there.

on reading your post you could get away without instlaling your dev tools on
the vm...

if you are developing on sharepoint then install sharepoint on the VM, point
it to the DB on your workstation during install and then write your code and
update things on the vm... its just like another server sitting in a
datacenter (except this is on your workstation)...

So you might not have to install all of your dev tools in the vm if you are
writing code and then integrating it with SharePoint and you want to see how
things work as they might if you had a hosted SP farm or a remote physical
server..

Yes.

The key here, as with virtually every question about Virtual PC, is to
remember that a virtual machine is no different from a physical machine from
the point of view of the software you install on it, which is why you'll
need separate licences for any software you install, both operating system
and applications...
