Post Vista SP1 install BSODs when shutting down or rebooting Guest

Issue:
I recently updated Vista x86 to SP1. When shutting down or restarting a
guest OS in Virtual PC 2007, Vista will BSOD with either "A driver is
mismanaging system PTEs" or "NO_MORE_SYSTEM_PTES".

Troubleshooting I've done:
-Uninstalled and reinstalled VPC 2007
-The system has 4GB of RAM and I have set DEP in BIOS to Disable, NX in
BCDedit to AlwaysOff, and PAE in BCDedit to Default and also tried
ForceDisable
-Attempted to create a new guest in VPC
-Attempted to install Virtual Server 2005 SP1, however the setup crashes

Notes:
- Pre SP1 I was attempting to utilize all 4GB of RAM and under BCDedit set
NX for AlwaysOff and PAE to ForceEnable.
- I don't get BSODs at all except for when doing a restart or shut down on a
guest os.
- I haven't reinstalled or updated any drivers to troubleshoot.

System info:
HP 8510p notebook
4GB RAM
ATi HD 2600 256MB
HP preinstalled Vista Business and I later upgraded to Vista Ultimate then
did SP1 some time after

Troubleshooting takes time since Vista take a while to load. I have
considered nuking and installing either Vista x64 or XP Pro x86 from scratch.
The two new features I like in Vista aren't enough to keep me on board and
the lack of software support, especially AdminTools (RSAT) for AD, is making
me leaning towards XP.

At this point I'm open to any ideas.
