Software Can"t Find Harddrive

After creating a virtual hd and attempting to setup an os
the os says it can't find a harddrive. This is true for WinMe and
WinXP. In the Settings screen it doesn't display the harddrive
thought I had created using the wizard.
Any ideas??

For Windows ME, you have to FDISK and then FORMAT the hard drive, just
as if it were a brand new hard drive and you were installing it in a
PC.

As for WinXP, setup should be able to create the partition itself.

That's definitely a problem, you'll have to attach the VHD, just
select "Hard Disk 1" in the settings, then "Browse" to navigate to the
vhd you created and select it.

I'm missing something.
I open Virtual PC and go to Action>>Settings and they are still disabled.
All 3 Hard Disk settings
I DO NOT Start the vm.
