I would like to try several "flavors" of Linux on my second hard drive, D:,
which is currently empty.

I've installed VirtualPC2007 on my C: drive and would like to install the
vms on my D: drive.

The first Linux distribution I want to use is Linux 7.10.
On the "Prepare Disk" screen, it asks:
"How do you want to partition the disk?"
The choices are:
"Guided - use entire disk"
"Manual"
Can I just let Ubuntu choose (Guided) since it is a virtual disk?

Yes. The virtual hard drive is just a data file on the host's file system.
You aren't partitioning the host's hard drive.
