Why VPC needs extra space on the drive it is not running on?

Hi,
I have installed VPC on C:\ drive and virtual disk also is located on C:\ .

I used VPC several times without a problem, but suddenly it refused to run
complaining about low space (18MB) on my Z:\drive.
Z drive is my 3rd partition where I store some of my data and it has nothing
to do with VPC.
What is going on?
